WHAT'S COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE?
Community acupuncture is acupuncture provided in a community setting. There are 5-6 lounge chairs set up in a large room and patients are booked in 15 minute intervals. On your first appointment, the practitioner will spend 10-15 minutes going over your intake form and asking some questions before putting needles in.
Why do we do that?
Well, acupuncture works best when you get it frequently. And one of the most major barriers to regular acupuncture appointments in the current complementary healthcare paradigm is cost of the appointment. When we provide acupuncture in a community setting, it allows us to keep costs for the patient down while bringing in enough money to keep the clinic running and pay the practitioners. Affordable acupuncture for all!
A lot of people even prefer receiving acupuncture in a community-type clinic where you can come in with a friend or family member. And there's something to be said for the heightened relaxation that seems to come from a room of people all doing it at the same time.
Payment is made on a sliding scale of $20-40 with a one-time $10 paperwork fee on your first appointment. Please pay whatever you are comfortable with within the scale. Do keep in mind that a series of treatments is usually required to get you feeling better. Treatments are covered by most extended healthcare plans.
